Restore balance. Release tension. Reset your body.

At Soul Massage and Wellness, every session is intentionally customized to meet your body where it is that day. Rather than choosing between different massage styles, your treatment is thoughtfully designed using a blend of techniques including:

• Deep Tissue

• Myofascial Release

• Trigger Point Therapy

• Swedish Massage

• Stretching & Mobility Work (when appropriate)

This personalized approach allows us to address pain, muscular tension, stress, and movement restrictions at their source.

By working with both muscle and fascia (the connective tissue that supports and surrounds your muscles), your session may include slow sustained pressure, focused therapeutic work, or flowing relaxation techniques — all adjusted to your comfort level and goals.

Whether you’re:

• Recovering from injury

• Managing chronic pain

• Releasing built-up stress

• Improving mobility and posture

• Or simply needing to reset your nervous system

Your massage is designed specifically for you.

Unlike a one-style-fits-all session, Customized Therapeutic Massage evolves with your body — because your body’s needs change.

What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It uses slow, controlled pressure and targeted work to release chronic tension, tight knots, and areas of restriction.

Unlike a relaxation massage, deep tissue is designed to correct underlying muscle issues, not just help you relax.

What deep tissue helps with:

  • Chronic muscle tension and tightness
  • Knots (“adhesions”)
  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Limited mobility or stiffness
  • Muscle soreness from work, stress, or exercise
  • Postural imbalances

How it feels:

Pressure is firm but controlled. It should feel like a “good hurt”—effective but never overwhelming or painful. The goal is to help the muscle release, not fight against it.

What makes it effective:

Deep tissue works by:

  • Breaking up muscle adhesions
  • Improving blood flow
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Helping muscles return to their normal resting state

Common Side Effects

Most are mild and temporary (usually 24–72 hours):

  • Muscle soreness or tenderness – similar to the feeling after a workout
  • Mild stiffness in the treated areas
  • Fatigue or sleepiness after the session
  • Increased thirst
  • Temporary redness or mild bruising in sensitive areas
  • Headache (rare) if neck/shoulders were very tight

Why soreness happens

Deep tissue work breaks up muscle adhesions, trigger points, and fascial restrictions. When those tissues release, the body responds with a short inflammatory response, similar to exercise recovery.

What is Swedish Massage?

Swedish massage is a relaxation-focused massage that uses smooth, flowing strokes to calm the nervous system, improve circulation, and ease general muscle tension.

It’s the most traditional and gentle style of massage, designed to help your body relax and reset.

Key features of Swedish massage:

  • Light to moderate pressure
  • Long, gliding strokes
  • Gentle kneading of muscles
  • Rhythmic, relaxing movements
  • Focus on full-body relaxation

Benefits of Swedish massage:

  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Improves circulation
  • Relieves mild muscle tension
  • Promotes relaxation and better sleep
  • Helps the body recover from daily stress

How it feels:

Very relaxing, soothing, and calming. It’s ideal if you want to unwind and release general tension without intense pressure.

What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a specialized technique that focuses on releasing tension and restrictions in the fascia, which is the thin layer of connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, joints, and organs.

When fascia becomes tight or restricted due to stress, injury, posture, or overuse, it can cause pain, stiffness, and limited movement—even in areas far from the original restriction.

What makes Myofascial Release different:

  • Uses slow, sustained pressure
  • Targets the fascia, not just the muscle
  • Often performed without oil or lotion for better grip
  • Allows the tissue to gradually release on its own
  • Focuses on restoring movement and balance

What it helps with:

  • Chronic pain and tightness
  • Limited mobility or stiffness
  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Postural imbalances
  • Old injuries and scar tissue
  • Tension that keeps returning

How it feels:

It’s usually slow, gentle, and deep, not aggressive. You may feel a gradual “melting” or release sensation as the tissue lets go.
